Kazan of the XIX and XX centuries (€ 15)

Excursion includes visit to the Kazan Kremlin (Koul Sherif mosque, Annunciation Cathedral, Suuymbeki tower) - citadel of Kazan khans, reconstructed by Russian architects in 16 century, St.Peter and Paul Cathedral, Kazan university, pedestrian Bauman street in the historic center of the city.

In 1825, projected by architect P.G.Pyatnitzky, was built the main building of Kazan University. Construction of the campus, as well as providing one by all necessary equipment for carrying out scientific researches and educational activity, was made under guidance of N.I.Lobachevsky, rector of the University during 1827-1846.

Four centuries ago the legendary many-minaret Kul Sharif Mosque decorated the capital of Kazan Khanate impressing everybody with its magnificence, grace, beauty and rich library. It was named in honor of its last Imam Seid Kul Sharif - one of Kazan defence leaders.

The cathedral is the largest building in the Kazan Kremlin and the oldest of the preserved stone constructions in Kazan. It was built in 1561-1562 by the Pskov architects Postnik Yakovlev and Ivan Shiryai in the north-eastern part of the Kremlin: their architectural heritage makes the Kazan Kremlin the most south-eastern point of the spread of the Pskov-Novgorod style monuments in Russia.

The Suyumbike Tower in the complex of the Governor's Palace is the historical pearl and the architectural symbol of Kazan. Its name is linked to the last queen of the Kazan Khanate Suyumbike, the wife of the two last khans of Kazan.
